The game versus Pitt tomorrow is a huge game for Tennessee if we even want to think about getting into the NCAA Tournament. There's no such thing as a "must win game" in the month of December in college basketball, but a win would certainly stick out come selection time. After Pitt, Memphis and UCONN are the only out of conference teams remaining on the schedule that would be mentioned under “Good Wins” come March. The fact that we beat Pitt 83-76 last year in Pittsburgh almost single-handedly got us into the tournament. However, both of these teams are very different than the teams we saw last December. We know that the Vols lost Tobias Harris, Scotty Hopson, Brian Williams, Melvin Goins, Josh Bone, John Fields, and most importantly, Bruce Pearl. On the other hand, Pitt lost 3 (Gilbert Brown, Brad Wanamaker, Gary McGhee) of their starters from last year. Brown and Wanamaker were two of the better players in the Big East and McGhee gave them a presence down low.Preseason Big East Player of the Year, Ashton Gibbs, headlines Pitt's current team. He is arguably one of the better guards in the country and Pitt goes as he goes.
