Here are a few tidbits from the Tennessee Volunteers practice at Milligan College this morning.
Starting on the offensive side of the ball, Justin Hunter and Zach Rogers did not practice today. It should be noted that it was not because of injury, but just to give them an extra days rest. Paterson and Rivera both continue to wear red non-contact jerseys, and like Hunter and Rogers, there is no long term worry. Moving to the O-line Antonio Richardson and the rest of the first string line continue to get a strong push off the line and could impress some people.
Moving to defense, Daniel McCullers has assumed the role of starting nose tackle with Couch and Sentimore on the ends. McCullers still has plenty of work to do but he's making progress. Hood is the 2nd team nose with Clark close behind him. O’Brien and Anderson are also getting some reps at nose tackle.
Teague and Coleman are battling for the 2nd corner spot as Waggner should most definitely start. He won’t be seeing as many first team reps early in camp as to give a few others some time to learn. Bonner is making plays, but is inconsistent and mostly with the 2nd team.
As of right now, Moore is starting in the Nickel along with Gordon. Brewer will see some time at linebacker in the Nickel Package. The Defensive line in the Nickle Packages is a 4man front with Maggitt, Fowlkes, Sentimore, and Smith
And finally, to the objection of many fans, Palardy would be the kicker & punter if the season started today. Right now he is just far more consistent than Darr. Bullock will kickoff.
